Highland Hospital also accepts patients in a sub acute capacity. These
patients may be admitted directly or transferred to this level of care
after being stabilized. Patients who are in the sub acute program are
most often awaiting another placement and cannot safely be discharged to
the community in the interm. Their treatment is less intense than acute
care. Patients rarely stay longer than 30 days in this program.
